Bristol - Clifton

On a lovely fine day we used the local ferry as a hop on, hop off bus! Actually very cheap
when you book on line and get seniors concessions. Three pound all day. Unfortunately Lisa was at work in this building.

Colourful houses from the ferry.

The crescent at Clifton.

Looking down the river Avon from atop the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The bridge. Great engineering for its day.

More colourful houses and the masts of the SS Britain.

Beddgelert

One of the prettiest towns in the Snowdenia area.

The story of the dog which is famous here.

Llanberis - Mt Snowdon

On top of Mt. Snowdon

Mt Snowdon. Fortunately we struck a brilliant day with very little wind. So we managed to

take the steam train to the top.

Our train with just one carriage with about 60 passengers.

View from the top. A little hazy so we could not see the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.

The massive slate Quarry at Llanberis.

Betws-Y-Coed

Hotel where we stayed on our trip to North Wales. Plenty of touristy shops.

The Swallow Falls. Supposedly Salmon can be seen jumping up these falls in the right season.

Conwy

The smallest house in Wales.

The marina viewed from the top of the old walls of Conwy.

What's that Lisa?

Conwy castle.

Llandudno North Wales

The busy seaside town of Llandudno on a very windy summer day. No one swimming an the pier
was closed due to the wind. Hope it dies away by tomorrow as we want to get up Mt Snowdon.

The promenade at Llandudno, lined with hotels.

These are models of Welsh steam engines running on a small railway on the promenade.

Canterbury

Canterbury Cathedral at night.

Some quaint buildings.

Impressive from the outside but not so grand inside.

Strasbourg

Heading through the locks for some sightseeing.

Great buildings

and reflections.

In the main square opposite the Strasbourg Cathedral is this little reminder of WWII.

A very old tree (Plane Tree) that musicians would sit in the branches and play their music.

The Strasbourg Cathedral.

and lit up at night by a light show.

Out with Lisa and Justins friends for a French dinner.

Champagne Region

We stayed at Cumieres not far from Epernay in the Champagne region.

A visit to the Moet Chandon winery in Epernay with very, very expensive champagne on sale.

Now in Hautvillers for you know what.

After the usual tasting we bought Champagne from here.

and the view of this region.

The patisserie shop opens at ?

It opened on the first dong of 4 and we got lunch after all.

Just about every place had a sign out the front.

Justin took photos of hundreds of these. It should make an interesting collage.

That evening we found ourselves at a light show in Epernay along the Champs de Champagne .
