Bosnia

On the way to Sarajevo. Clear water rivers and lots of mussel and oyster farms.

This is the place in Sarajevo where the assassination of Franz Ferdinand happened starting the first world war.

The river in Sarajevo which separates two of the factions. The bridge often has divers tempting fate as the water is only 3 metres deep.

The war damage is evident throughout Bosnia. Seems little attempt has been made to repair/remove it. Lack of money.

A patched roof.

In all the parks are many cemetries. Tens of thousands perished in the war and the only place to bury the dead were the local parks. Even the stadium that was used for the winter Olympics in the 1980's is now a cemetry. Sarajevo leaves you with the impression of a very disfunctional and unhappy town.
