Dubrovnik

Inside the old town of Dubrovnik. This town was badly damaged during the 91/92 wars by Serbia. Australian and New Zealand governments were at forefront in getting the bombing of this historical site stopped. UNESCO funded the repairs and today there is very little if any sign of the damage.

The town has a lot of narrow streets and some fairly steep.

On a hot day the water fountain is popular and safe to drink.

The old Pharmacy which is still in use today.

On the old town wall looking back at the new part of Dubrovnik.
and looking down at the fountain in the late afternoon. Still hot but many of the tourists from cruise shops have now left.

Here you can see the old wall winding around the old town. We tackled the walk in the late afternoon and it was still plus 30 degrees. The walk takes about 45 mins.

A little patch of standard shrubs.

A cable car ride is now possible to a view point above Dubrovnik. It was destroyed during the wars and has only now just reopened a week before we arrived. Frances admires the view after being persuaded to climb down a few rocks.

I decided to get a closer view. Spectacular!
