Lake Bled

The church on the Island on Lake Bled.

and a view of the Island from Bled castle.

We took a Pletna boat ride to the island.

Bled Castle. A lots of steps to get there. But it is through the bush so not too bad.

Alpine style houses are common in the valleys.

The following photos are from the Vintgar Gorge. This about 3 km out of Bled and about 2 km long.

Clean clear water and lots of trout in some of the pools.

Bled town in the distance. We walked around the lake both ways. About 6km around the lake.

Colourful gardens.

We took an excursion to Lake Bohinj. This is a view of the lake from just below the summit of Mount Vogel in the Julian Alps. The cable car to the first stop is the steepest and fastest in Europe. About 1 km up the hill. From here we took the chair lift to a spot about 200m below the summit of Mt Vogel.

I wonder what it would be like here in winter. These pictures look impressive.
